OptimTalk Technology Licensing and Pricing

OptimTalk Technology can be used in a large variety of applications and systems and each system or application may require a different OptimTalk Technology configuration. OptimSys offers a flexible licensing model so that our customers can choose a configuration that fits precisely their needs and reduce the license costs by excluding the parts of the technology that are not of any use for them.

The license system is based on a digitally signed runtime license file that describes features available to the customer. A runtime license file is required in order to use the system, it cannot be launched without a valid runtime license file. The license file is checked at runtime and the use of unlicensed features is denied.

There are two kinds of licenses available:

Development License

OptimTalk Technology Software Development Kit (SDK) is available for developers who wish to integrate OptimTalk Technology with their own technologies and products. In order to use the SDK, the customer must obtain a development license.

There are two kinds of development licenses available:

  • Evaluation development license
  • Full development license

Evaluation development license

The evaluation development license authorizes the developer to use OptimTalk Technology and its SDK solely for internal evaluation. The license is free of charge (registration is required). A runtime license file that limits the functionality of the system in some ways is available for the evaluation.

The free access to OptimTalk SDK gives everybody the opportunity to deeply study the technology and make qualified decision about prospective purchase of the technology. The SDK download and information for developers are available on OptimTalk developers site.

OptimSys provides no support to the developers evaluating OptimTalk Technology.

Full development license

A full development license must be obtained for development of software incorporating OptimTalk Technology. Pricing is available on request. Unlike the evaluation development license, the full development license comes with a runtime license file that allows for use of OptimTalk Technology without any limits.

The full development license authorizes the developer to use OptimTalk Technology and its SDK solely for internal development and demonstration of resulting applications to prospective customers. For use and distribution of OptimTalk Technology as part of a product or service, a distribution license must be obtained first.

Distribution License

OptimTalk Technology can be used and distributed by third parties only with added value as part of their products or services. For such a use and distribution, a distribution license must be obtained first. Licenses for redistribution of the technology itself without added value are not available.

OptimSys offers two licensing models that address needs of companies with high- as well as lower-volume sales:

  • Per-port licensing
  • Port unlimited license for one-time price

Per-port licensing

The per-port licensing model requires the customer to purchase a license for each port of OptimTalk Technology distributed to the sublicensees. The number of ports has the following meaning:

  • For the OptimTalk VoiceXML Interpreter, the number of ports is defined as the maximum number of dialogs that can be processed by the interpreter simultaneously at any given moment.
  • For the OptimTalk CCXML Interpreter, the number of ports is defined as the maximum number of calls that can be processed by the interpreter simultaneously at any given moment. For this purpose, number of calls is the sum of the inbound and outbound calls.
  • For the OptimTalk MRCPv2 Client, the number of ports is defined as the maximum number of ASR and TTS sessions handled by the client simultaneously at any given moment.

The advantage of the per-port licensing model is the possibility of better optimization of costs in time.

The per-port prices for the OptimTalk Technology core parts are subject to the following scheme. The prices do not include VAT.

The per-port prices for a combination of the OptimTalk Technology core parts with additional components are available on request.

Port unlimited license for one-time price

In the case of higher volume sales, it is possible to purchase a port unlimited distribution license for one-time price (no royalties in the future).

Customer that select this licensing model have the unique opportunity to get the full source code of the licensed parts of OptimTalk Technology for internal use.
